A New Earth

The messengers–Buddha, Jesus, and others, not all of them known–were humanity’s early flowers. They were precursors, rare and precious beings.

To sin means to miss the point of human existence. It means to life unskillfully, blindly, and thus to suffer and cause suffering.

The human mind is highly intelligent. Yet its very intelligence is tainted by madness. Science and technology have magnified the destructive impact that the dysfunction of the human mind has upon the planet, other life-forms, and upon humans themselves.

By the end of the century, the number of people who died a violent death at the hand of their fellow humans would rise to more than one hundred million.

Driven by green, ignorant of their connectedness to the whole, humans persist in behavior that, if continued unchecked, can only result in their own destruction.

Most ancient religions and spiritual traditions share the common insight–that our “normal” state of mind is marred by a fundamental defect.

The good news of the possibility of a radical transformation of human consciousness. In Hindu teachings (and sometimes in Buddhism also), this transformation is called enlightenment. In the teachings of Jesus, it is salvation, and in Buddhism, it is the end of suffering. Liberation and awakening are other terms used to describe this transformation.

Responding to a radical crisis that threatens our very survival–this is humanity’s challenge now.

A significant portion of the earth’s population will soon recognize, if they haven’t already done so, that humanity is now faced with a stark choice: Evolve or die.

Ego is no more than this: identification with form, which primarily means thought forms. If evil has any reality–and it has a relative, not an absolute, reality–this is also its definition: complete identification with form–physical forms, thought forms, emotional forms. This results in total unawareness of my connectedness with the whole, my intrinsic oneness with every “other” as well as with the Source.

We need to understand here that heaven is not a location but refers to the inner realm of consciousness. This is its meaning in the teachings of Jesus.

“A new heaven” is the emergence of a transformed state of human consciousness, and “a new earth” is its reflection in the physical realm.

Enlightening. I agree heaven is
not necessarily a place but an
inner realm, entirely attainable
in the present.

how true, Kuan!!! but the sad thing is we still are not anywhere near "new earth" .... much is left desired, much work is left! sometimes, and trust me, this happens more than i care to list ... i catch myself with unbecoming thoughts of how we humans are multiplying and hence reducing the quality....

quest of new dimension goes on

A new Earth
A new mind
Enlightenment
Is mine

Only through
Awareness
And
Acceptance
Of what is true

For the mind must be open
In order to see
The way things truely are
Not just they way
You would like them to be

Thanks for the comment at Independents Unbound. I Added your blog to our blog roll. quite a few of our readers could use your site on a daily basis.

As I am sure we all know, the world drags us away from our practices even in good times. In times like these, it is even more difficult for many to stay grounded, aware of who we really are.

Namaste

I agree with the idea that we're all connected and each and every one of us is a part of the divine. What is difficult for me, in the work that I do is remembering that - when day after day I'm dealing with people who hurt others, and I see them coming back again and again.
I try to do my best to honor the victims, try to help them become whole again - and at the same time seek *justice* not *revenge* on the criminals that hurt them.
My idea/faith(?) in humanity isn't gone, but sometimes it gets really angry and jaded.

Reminds me of this line from Jonathan Livingstone Seagull:"Heaven is not space ,Heaven in not time but Heaven is being perfect"..I think perfection is nothing about evolving to a state where we start appreciating the blessings around us..

I haven't read that book--everyone tells me I should, but are you familiar with Doreen Virtue's book on the Ascended Masters? I use those oracle cards. I even think J.R.R. Tolkein was one.

Hi Kuan,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me on my blog. I really appreciated that.

You said, "...yet its very intelligence is tainted by madness."

There is a very fine line between an extremely intelligent person and a person who is 'mad'. I've come across that many times - hence the 'mad scientist'. heh.

I wanted to ask you: do you think that heaven and earth only exist within our own consciousness?

Some people believe that there is no hell and that we create our own hell.

You mentioned to me that you've followed the Catholic teachings while going to school... Does "heaven and hell" still raise a question for you, and if so, how has that manifested into your beliefs today?

I'll be back---------very interesting blog you have!

Hi deb...What ever gets you through your life...it's a personal choice. In the end there's a convergence of all paths, it's an eternal journey...whether we call it grace or good karma it doesn't matter, it's a good starting point.
